| The economic growth in Inner Mongolia has been surging in recent years, but in themean time, the economic gap in these cities is increasingly large. This paper tries to find thereasons of the disparities through the analysis of the evolution of regional economicdisparities in recent years, and put forward the measures of coordinated development in InnerMongolia. This paper divides the area of Inner Mongolia into tree parts: east, west and middle InnerMongolia based on the administrative union, the geographical position and economicdevelopment relations. The absolute and relative regional economic disparities in InnerMongolia are increasingly great in terms of time, especially from2005. The regionaleconomic disparities in recent years are in accord with the left section of the Williamson’sinverted U hypothesis. And the level of economic development is much higher than the eastand west areas of Inner Mongolia in terms of space. From the perspective of decompositionanalysis, the economic disparities are increasingly large within and between three big areas, and the disparities between areas is the main factor of the whole regional economicdisparities. This paper divides the reasons of the disparities into two categories. One kind is theinternal basic factors; the other is external drive factors. The middle region in Inner Mongoliahas obvious advantages no matter in terms of internal basic factors, such as nature, resources, location etc., or in terms of external drive factors, for instance, economy, population andsystem. The large regional economic disparities go against economic progress and prosperity ofsociety. So we must choose a sustainable development way for the future. Then this paperputs forward some proposals based on the choice of developmental route, the upgrade ofindustrial structure, the establishment of aid system, and prevent the risks of externaleconomic drive. |
