Modulation format can improve the transmission performance and spectrum efficiency of high-speed optical transmission system. Duo to its excellent perf ormance with the resistance to nonlinear effect, channel crosstalk and dispersio n, modulation format is considered to be one of the key factors in the develop ment of improving the performance of optical transmission system in the future,In the system of optical transmission, the communication capacity and relay d istance are seriously hampered by dispersion and loss. Optical amplification tec hnology is a necessary condition for realizing the high speed and low noise op tical transmission. And the optical transmission system based on fiber optical p arametric amplifier (FOPA) has the advantages of high gain, large bandwidth, h igh flatness and low noise. FOPA is of high potential in the future of network technology in optical transmission based on three order nonlinear effect of Fo ur Wave Mixing (FWM).This paper, by using of the OptiSystem simulation software, analyses the i nfluence of four different modulation formats in FOPA. Main work of this pap er focuses on:Firstly, the development history of optical communication and the optical a mplification technology are discussed in this paper. And the importance and cu rrent situation of modulation formats at home and abroad are analyzed. The de velopment and the advantage of FOPA are mainly discussed. The research of t he change in the performance of optical transmission system after FOPA introd uced is analyzed.Then, the theory of modulation and FOPA is researched in detail. The NRZ、RZ、 CSRZ and ODB are discussed in40Gb/s single channel optical transmission system. They are belonging to amplitude-shift keying-OOK. Based on the characteristic of this four modulation format, the effects of the parameters of fiber and pump on FOPA system are analyzed and modulationed. The characteristics of the four modulation format are analyzed from the view of theory and simulation. The influence of different modulation format on the performance of optical transmission system based on FOPA is discussed in theoretically. And then the effects of the parameters of fiber and pump on the optical transmission system of PS-FOPA and PI-FOPA are simulated and analyzedFinally, the influence of the four different modulation formats on the optical transmission system of degenerate and non-degenerate PS-FOPA is researched in detailed. The different eye diagram and max Q factor are compared. The conclusion that RZ is the most suitable modulation format for the optical transmission system of PS-FOPA is obtained. The max Q factor is obtained when the duty cycle of RZ is80%in terms of the optical transmission system of non-degenerate PS-FOPA. While the max Q factor is obtained when the duty cycle of RZ is100%in terms of the optical transmission system of degenerate PS-FOPA.
