Auto-tracking receivers are widely used in the area of wireless communication.With the signal is received and the azimuth and elevation error calculated, theauto-tracking receiver send these errors to servo system. And then, the antenna is drivenby servo system to aim at the target. How to track a signal rapidly and stably at lowSNR is always the challenge and emphasis of auto-tracking receiver design.Firstly, the basic theory and technology of kinds of mono-pulse tracking receiversare analyzed in this paper. And then, according to the two-phase and four-phasemodulation/demodulation principle of single channel mono-pulse tracking receiver, therealization scheme of digital Phase Locked Loop (PLL) tracking receiver and digitalfour-phase modulation tracking receiver are designed respectively. In the digital PLLtracking receiver design part, software radio method is used to implement the traditionalanalog PLL tracking receiver on the FPGA-DSP hardware platform. In order to designthe digital four-phase modulation tracking receiver for a special FM signal, a noveldetecting method is proposed and realized on the hardware platform. During theimplementation of these two digital tracking receivers on the hardware platform, manyfacts and figures are discussed in detail in this paper. At last, the system’s AutomaticGain Control (AGC) and the communication between auto-tracking receiver and servosystem are also discussed briefly.
