With the development of internet, the network has become part of our daily life,and the network management has been developed rapidly. The modern networkmanagement is becoming more and more perfect, and the operating system for themanagement is getting more and more complex.In this thesis, a network equipment monitoring and management system isdesigned based on UDP communication protocols and hierarchical softwaredevelopment method. The system can monitor the status of the running networkequipment by customizing the communication protocols. Besides, the system is able toconfigure, query the parameters of the network equipment, and access theMIB(management information library) of the equipment through the SNMP protocol.The thesis firstly summarized the technologies of the system, includingmultithreaded programming, socket programming, MySQL database and simplenetwork management protocol. Secondly, the author gave the requirement analysis ofthe system according to its functions and characteristics. Combined with thehierarchical software development method, the overall design of the system andfunctional design of system initialization module, monitoring module, security module,database accessing module and SNMY accessing module were implemented, as well asthe database design and the communication protocols design. Thirdly, from theperspective of system initialization module, monitoring module, security module,database accessing module and SNMY accessing module, the thesis discussed thedesign and the implementation of the system in detail. Finally, testing of the systemwas completed.
