Laser diode pumped solid-state lasers referred to as DPSSL, because of its advantages,such as low-power, reliable performance, long life, good output beam quality, have a widerange of applications in the industrial, military, medical and scientific fields. It has becomethe focus of research in the field of laser. In this thesis, based on the investigation on theresearch situation, results of experiment and the application fields of LD side-pumpedsolid-state lasers and defines the experimental goals, made a detailed LD side-pumped Nd:YAG lasers design and obtained experimental results.This thesis first studies the physical and chemical properties and four-level system ofNd: YAG crystal, demonstrated that Nd: YAG crystal is the most suitable frequency output660nm red laser in the front display and other areas, and then analyzed in the work processthe theory of thermal effects and measures to reduce thermal effects. Secondly, discussed theprinciples of laser frequency and the theory of phase matching and nonlinear coefficient, andanalyzed several common physical and chemical properties of the frequency-doublingcrystal, and compared several parameters of the crystal, then choose the KTP crystal as thefrequency-doubling crystal. At the same time, taking into account the thermal effects and themode volume and other factors analyzed different kinds of several resonator cavity, anddiscussed the conditions of the cavity stability. Finally completed the LD side-pumped Nd:YAG solid-state660nm red laser experiments, with the pump power of50W symmetricaltriangle around the laser rod LD array, Ⅱ type critical phase-matched for intracavityfrequency doubling, obtained2.61W of continuous660nm red light output, and analyzed anddesigned the coupling output system, optical output2.08W of continuous red light, thecoupling efficiency is80%,and look up the cancer research in laser of660nm red laser with anew photosensitizer5-ALA.
