Wireless Video Monitoring (WVM) Technology, a new generation of video monitoring technology developed on the basis of wireless network technology, is taking more and more market share in the area of security surveillance.WVM server is exactly the combination of former analog video monitoring technology and modern wireless network video monitoring system. With digitalization of images, compressing and encoding, real-time control, wireless network communication and transmission technologies, the video signals collected by the analog video are compressed and encoded, and then sent to users at terminals through embedded decoder via wireless network. The users are able to visit the video camera through standard browser on PC and watch real-time video. What has been put in front of us is how to appraise the quality of the pictures transmitted. Will the interference during wireless network transmission have any impact on the quality of the picture? This article is going to set up a quality appraisal system for the wireless network video transmission. Some reference parameters, such as video resolution, transmission frame rate, signal-noise ratio, will be employed to evaluate the quality of transmission by the server. This article contains following parts:1. Brief introduction of the status quo of security surveillance industry and analysis on its development;2. Brief introduction of the development history of video encoding, and special analysis on H.264, M-JPEG encoding standard used by wireless network video server;3. Detailed introduction of various fading phenomenon during the wireless transmission process;4. Detailed introduction of the definition and significance of four parameters (video resolution, resolution ratio, transmission frame rate, signal-noise ratio;5. Detailed introduction of the process to collect video source and samples. And I mainly responsible for the following work:1. Design of test field;2. Design and production of video source for test;3. Programming of test software;4. Statistical analysis to the test findings.
