Fiber Bragg grating is a new form of passive fiber structures. In recentyears, Fabry-Perot fiber Bragg grating shows its superiority: high reliability,anti-electromagnetic interference and high resistance to corrosion. As theseadvantages, Fabry-Perot fiber Bragg grating sensors get wide attention in theprocess of development.Optical fiber devices based on fiber Bragg grating Fabry-Perot structureshave attracted considerable research interest in recent years for their manyimportant applications in optical communications and fiber-optic sensingareas. In recent years, their developments as multi-wavelength filters, tunabledispersion compensators, distributed Bragg reflection (DBR) lasers,multi-parameter sensors and hydrophone have been reviewed. The maincontent of the research is as follows:1. Reflection spectra of various fiber gratings were simulated. Thisincludes (1) the reflection spectra of uniform Fiber Bragg Gratings withdifferent Grating lengths;(2) the reflection spectra of Chirped Fiber Gratingswith the same grating length but different chirp rates&the same chirp ratebut different lengths. Their reflection spectra were compared and it was foundthat the reflectivity is in inverse proportion to chirp rate and the bandwidthwas in proportion to grating length;(3) the reflection spectra of Fabry-Perotfiber Bragg gratings;(4) the reflection spectra of Phase-shifted fiber Bragggratings.2. Some of the fiber Bragg grating Fabry-Perot structures werecompletely analyzed and summarized, including multi-wavelength filters,tunable dispersion compensators, distributed Bragg reflection (DBR) lasers,multi-parameter sensors and hydrophone.3. Uniform Fiber Bragg Grating and Fabry-Perot fiber Bragg gratingwere fabricated with the phase mask method and their sensor applications in strain and temperature measurements were studied. Fiber Bragg gratingFabry-Perot filters with different parameters were fabricated and compared.
