As technology advances, a variety of paper filled with our daily lives. As a productwhich is daily contacted with our lives, as well as its abundant species, its immeasurableimportance has aroused the concern of today’s society. Because of growing demand forpaper, all the parameters in the paper production process are very important. Therefore, the parameter measurement methods have rapid updates and development. As a basic parameter of the pulp, the simplicity and safety of concentrationmeasurement is a test of growing number of manufacturers. The concentration value is abasic technical parameter of the papermaking process, not only relates to the quality andsales of paper, but also relates to the security and sustainability of papermakingequipment during production. Thus, it has great significance to research a highlyefficient, simple and safe method for concentration detection.Combined with the development of the pulp concentration detection system, aswell as domestic and international research and theoretical basis and the outstandingadvantages of the ultrasonic, this paper introduces the design process of a paperdetection system of the solid-liquid two-phase flow concentration based on ultrasoundtechnology and ultrasound attenuation principle. Both in practical and theoretical study, the concentration of liquid-solid two-phaseflow of liquid detection is a field of in-depth study. Now it is not widely used inindustrial process, but the application of ultrasonic testing in the pulp field will becomeincreasingly broader in the future. This paper has exploration and research in the following areas:(1) Based on the advantages of the ultrasonic signal, selecting a specific ultrasoundsignal to be measured. Through analysing the variety of launch-collection methods ofultrasonic signal, we can determine a viable and effective method to measure.(2) To determine the hardware facilities for flexible testing of pulp concentrationafter reading the detailed material and transducer production methods. To determine thetransducer’s equivalent circuit, and through materials analysis, this circuit can furtherreduce the error in the process of transmitting and receiving ultrasonic signals.(3) Transmitting and receiving signal by FPGA. Due to the advantages of theFPGA (Spartan3E), it is easy to control and analyse of the signal and make up error inthe signal propagation process. Finally, after the feasibility analysis, the overall system design can reduce thenecessary cost and improve the operability, achieving the purpose of pulp concentrationdetection.
