Surface plasmon resonance sensor (SPRS) is made of the high refractive index optical waveguideand precious metal film. It is a novel optical sensor based on SPR effect. For its high sensitivity, strong capacity of resisting disturbance, low response time and little influence on the target medium,SPRS has been widely used in many areas since invented, such as biomedical, environment protection, food&drug security and engineering physics. There are four parts in the thesis as following:Firstly, the finite difference time domain of prime SPR model and Optical fiber SPR model aresimulated in this paper. Surface plasmon resonance is illuminated from various aspects. Thesimulation illustration shows the validity and feasibility of the series prime SPR sensor and the D typeOptical fiber SPR sensor and proves some improving suggestions for the layout of series prime SPRsensor.Secondly, optical fiber SPR sensor for environment humidity monitoring characteristics isinvestigated. On this basis, coating with thin PVA film that with different thickness and capacity forwater molecule on the surface of optical fiber SPR sensor probe, for the purpose of monitoringrelative humidity. The research shows that the SPR sensor probe coated with double layers of thinPVA film gets better detection result.Thirdly, optical fiber SPR sensor for liquid level monitoring of distilled water and ethanolcharacteristics is investigated. The results of the study show the SPR resonance intensity does havesome correspondence with the liquid level. In the full range the SPR resonance intensity is equatedonly with the liquid levelc and not the liquid refractive index. Finally, the paper introduces the EMD filtering method. On this basis, an EMD adaptive filteringmethod is proposed for the characteristics of the noises included in SPR spectrum. It can effectivelyfilter noise and adequately retain the detail information of the SPR spectrum. Then, a practical SPRspectrum signal of a SPR sensor system from our laboratory is analyzed to remove the noise by usingEMD adaptive filtering. The results show that EMD adaptive filter can effectively remove the noisethat included in the signal.
