All-solid-state blue-ray laser has a wide application in the fields of high-density optical storage, lasercolor display technology, and underwater communication, etc. As the technology of all-solid-state redand green laser becomes more and more maturate, all-solid-state blue-ray laser has become the focus andkeystone of the research. Based on the analysis of the development status of all-solid-state blue-ray laser,we put forward the research subject of all-solid-state blue-ray laser at457nm wavelength. The researchcontents and achievements mainly include:1. We analyzed the physical-chemical properties, the optical properties and the energy level structureof the laser crystal Nd: YVO4, obtained theory model of quasi-three-level laser system at914nmwavelength, then we get the calculation formula for the quasi-three-level system at914nm.And analyzedthe threshold of laser operation at914nm wavelength in detail.2. We expounded the laser frequency-doubling technology, reasoned the expression equation for theefficiency of frequency-doubling, and then we analyzed the factors that impact the frequency-doublingefficiency. After that, we compared the properties of those popular nonlinear frequency-doubling crystals,such as LBO, BIBO and BBO. Through the analysis, we get that LBO is the best frequency-doublingcrystal for the blue-ray laser system.3. Analyzing the thermal effect of laser diode (LD) end-pumped all-solid-state laser, through thesimulation by Matlab software, we get the curve of the focal length of Nd: YVO4crystal thermal lenswith the pump power. And measuring it by the method of stable resonator, the result is very close to thecalculation result.4. The whole system of solid-state was designed, include optimal design of the pump source, thechoice of laser crystal and nonlinear crystal, optimal design of temperature control system, coatingdesign and pattern matching of the laser.5. Base on theoretical analysis, an intracavity frequency-doubling457nm blue-ray laser system withLBO crystal was set up. The output power of this laser system can reach up to2.34W at the pump powerof24.3W, and the optical-optical conversion efficiency is9.74%. The threshold of this system is3.7W,and its output power stability is3.01%at the output power of1.4W.6. Replacing LBO crystal with BIBO crystal for the frequency-doubling, the output power of thislaser system can reach up to1.56W at the pump power of24.2W, and the optical-optical conversionefficiency is6.45%. The threshold of this system is3.9W, and its output power stability is2.98%at theoutput power of0.98W.7. By contrasting we can know that we have successfully exploited a high efficiency, low thresholdand compact all-solid-state457nm laser system. Based on the relevant literatures, this laser system is theone of the highest output power all solid-state linear cavity457nm laser system at present in the world.The laser threshold is also the lowest at present.
