| The issue of climate change was gradually concerned by countries all over theworld since the World Climate Conference1979. British Prime Minister Tony Blair’sintroduced the word "low carbon" to the world in his report,2003. And a few scholarsproposed that the sustainable development of world’s economy requests the transition ofcountries——they must be low-carbon countries. As long as low-carbon is a newstandard to the society, it is also a trend of global economy.Since the new standard was implemented in all sectors, we realized that thetraditional publishing industry which relies on paper and printing was high-carbon inthe entire publishing process. Huge demand for paper, printing pollutions, big cost onissuance and so on, while the industrial mode itself is not so perfect. Theimplementation of low-carbon publishing can reduce the demand of paper and the printpollutions, and make more profit for the publishing house; meanwhile, it can reduce thecost of books and the cost of broken books. And enhance the competitive on marketing.The development of digital technology refers a new direction to traditional publishing.How can we achieve this?The author elaborated the questions above in this way:PART1: The history of low-carbon and the significance of low-carbon economy.PART2: The history of Chinese publishing industry, the development in the last60years and the problems.PART3: The situation of high-carbon in traditional publishing industry and itsreason.PART4: The necessity and urgency of the transformation on traditional publishingindustry.PART5: The measures that could be used to create a low-carbon publishingindustry.This study is to clarify the concept of low-carbon publishing, Supplementary thetheory of low-carbon publishing, and hope to raise good proposals for the traditionalpublishing through this research. |
