Recently, Globalization and Internationalization become the hot topic of highereducation all over the world. As the largest developing country, in recent years, Chinafurther deepens its international cooperation, which also makes a further development ofjoint-running school between foreign and China universities with more different modesand higher levels. Under this circumstance, China students nowadays have more andmore opportunities to study abroad during their college life or after their graduation;meanwhile, the quantity of those students who will continue their studies abroad is alsorapidly increasing. The market of overseas studies in China has being changed from thetimes of “rational further study abroad” to the times of “popularization of furtheringstudy abroad”.This thesis mainly focuses on the researches of motivation and adaptation ofself-funded overseas students who join the studying abroad projects holded by partneruniversities and china-foreign cooperation in running school mode. The main methodused in this thesis is the investigation questionnaire with the random interview methodas complement, and the reliability and validity of the questionnaire also have beenanalysed for further use in furture research. This paper aims to analyze the development of overseas education from the aspectof stduents’ motivation and adaptation, hope to grasp the psychological motivation ofcontemporary overseas students. Three results have been concluded as follows:1. Research the questionnaire and try find out the most important psychologicalfeature which affect overseas students’ motivation to choose studying abroad.2. Discuss the adaptation situation of overseas students and analyze factors thatmight influence students’ adaptation.3. Provide necessary references to China universities: how to design, how todevelopment and how to perfact such overseas studying projects, provide a betterplatform for students who wish to study abroad. Meanwhile this thesis could providemore rational advices and guidance for students by interfering key group psychological feature of students’ motivation and adaptation to let them gain a good environment forthe growth and positive development spacebetter improvement and developmentopportunities during the stduying.Research shows that the general situation of overseas students’ adaptation goeswell in spite of significant difference when we divide students into different groupsaccording to different standard: where from, which gender, how long has been in abroad,or have part-time job or not. At present, self-realization and recognition is the mostpopular motivation for studying abroad, which signifies the rationality of studyingabroad. However, different categorizations in the same students group generatesdifferent order for importance of motivation (like different degree of self-realizationand recognition); this could provide some references for universities when they try todesign and develop studying abroad projects and guide students to choose projects. Thisthesis claims that universities should provide relevant psychological guidance for thesestudents.
