The Birth Sex Ratio Problem Of Xianyangshi Research

Chinese birth sex ratio has kept rising in recent thirty years, which has caused the high attention of the society. In2010, the sixth census results indicated that the birth sex ratio was as high as118.06, which is11%higher than normal. This phenomenon is caused by all kinds of deep reasons. The problem continuing imbalance will cause a variety of social issues. This problem also exits in Xianyang, as an important city in the west of China. It not only conducive to taking measures to control this problem to investigate the history of the birth sex ratio in Xianyang in past years, but also can provide suggestions to other cities in Shaanxi province. The research results give the dataset and the changes of the birth sex ratio in downtown and countyside of Xianyang in recent15years. In addition to, this paper analyses the deep reason of the high birth sex ratio and presents the measures to control this problem based on the dataset. This research takes Xianyang as a specific object to study and reveals the characteristics and commonness with other districts in Shaanxi province.This paper collects the dataset of birth sex ratio in all district of Xianyang city in recent15years. It took people from’Qindu’ district and’Weicheng’ district as respondents and interviewed some people. This research investigated and analysed the current status, results, reasons and measures of birth sex ratio combining qualitative analysis with quantitative analysis.This paper consists of six parts:Part1:preface. It includes the background, significance, reviews, research current status at home and abroad, the definition of related concepts and the research method. Part2:It presents the status of birth sex ratio in recent years. The author investigates the history and the current situation and indicates the factors which resulted in the high birth sex ratio, such as economic transition, society transition, cultural values, demographic transition, family planning policy, scientific technology and government management.Part3:It presents the current status of birth sex ratio of all districts in Xianyang based on the analysis of dataset. It includes the reviews of birth sex ratio in countryside and downtown and the history of birth sex ration in recent15years.Part4:It discusses the results of unbalance of birth sex ratio in Xianyang and the tendency in future30years. The specific results will be discussed from three aspects of society, family and individuals.Part5:It analyses the main reasons resulted in the high birth sex ratio. There are a lot of reasons. The main reasons are Confucius culture and marriage mode in traditional culture; the demand for labour, inheritance of land and property; patriarchy and pension security in society; the family planning policy and the rules of two children fertility conditions and the popularization of B ultrasonic in scientific technology.Part6:The related reaction and advice. Aiming at the specific circumstance in Xianyang, this paper presents measures to control the problem of birth sex ratio in the five aspects like the adjust of family planning policy, perfection of the social security system, improvement of physiology, efforts of women and the strengthening of the government management. And it needs efforts from the groups of the society.
