A Report On UN Document Tranlation Project

UN Document Translation is a group translation project that was luanched2years ago. And during that2years, since2010, more than100,000words from the original UN document texts have been translated. Today, this project is still in progress and will carry on. And the author of this article, as one of those translators involved, has spent1year translating documents from the project. It can’t be denied that this project has contributted much to the development of our translation abilities.When translating UN documents, we paid much attention to what we call "consistency","continuity" and "accuracy." They are the3criteria we followed during our translation process. And we spent the major part of our time polishing and revising our scripts to ensure their quality.Today, this paper aims at making clear our working process, those requirements on us translators, and with the guidance from the text type theory by K.Reiss, analyzing the main problems encountred during translating and the solutions to these problems.
