The essay, based on composer Bao Yuankai’s using counterpoint thinking and techniques in "The First Symphony-Memory" and "The Third Symphony---Beijing Opera", starts from the detailed counterpoint techniques and polyphonic, figures out how the composer individualizes counterpoint ingeniously by tracing down his techniques from parts to the whole works, and ventures into the intention of the composer. The thesis consists of introduction, the main body, conclusion and reference, among which chapter2, chapter3and chapter4are the focus. Chapter2grasps the multi-clue thinking of the works and reveals the composer’s control over both the micro techniques and macro layout. Chapter3and chapter4analyze Passacaglia and Fugato respectively and show the individualization of the two traditional polyphonic.Due to the composer’s unified thinking, mature techniques and exquisite music feelings, the eastern and western music elements cohere smoothly and elegantly in these two works. China taste suffuses the works not only in the flesh and blood but in the heart and soul.
