| Bao, Yuankai, the famous composer and educator in the world, whowas born in Qing in Heibei province. Bao studied the flute and compositionin the affiliated Middle School of the Central Conservatory of Music inChina and graduated from the conservatory in1967with a BA inComposition and Composition Theory followed with the professor SuXia,JiangDingxian,ChenPeixun,YangRuhuai, DuanPingtai and so on. Bao hasbeen writing music of various genres including symphony, chamber music,cantatas, musicals, movie and television sound tracks. He also serves as theDeputy Director of the Composition Committee of the Chinese Musicians’Association, the Director of Institute of Arts at Xiamen University, andexecutive member of the China Sun Yat-sen Cultural Exchange Association.He was member of “Music Researchâ€(one of the major academic journalsin the country) as well as a member of the panel of judges for thecomposition competition “Golden Bell Awardsâ€. In recognition of hisdedication and achievements towards music education and composition,Prof. Bao was one of the first music educators to receive the special grantfrom the Chinese State Council and the “Outstanding Music Educatorâ€award from the Chinese Ministry of Culture.Chinese Sights and Sounds translate and explain the emotions andqualities of folk music by enhance the tone in the polyphonic structure andappropriate adaptation and re-create based of traditional Chinese folk.The breakthrough in this polyphonic creation is not a simpleaccumulation and arrangement, but full of creative passion and combine ofthe organic integrity in the East and Western polyphony creative skills.
