From Xunzi, ritual represented not only a pattern of civilization, butalso a certain rules and trend. There is the shadow of "the ritual" everywhere fromthe magnificence of universe to realistic politics and even the microscopic life. InXunzi’s opinion,"the ritual" which possessed supreme value reflected inevitablerule of the universe, society and human life."The ritual" of Xunzi had proposed in its specific ideological origins andbackground. From the Duke of Zhou "ritual music" on, the Chinese ritual andmusic civilization was to be laid. But to Confucius’ age, ritual and music wascaved and thrilled, exhausting the relevant disadvantages. For the reconstruction ofa new order of Zhou as a type of ritual, Confucius and Mencius depended on thenature of righteousness for ritual and advocating etiquette. To the late WarringStates period, the social moral was decayed, and ethical was disorder. Xunzi hadinherited and developed of Confucius and Mencius’s Ritual Politics as a Confucianscholar. In connection with the complicity of the syndrome of social history, Xunziprojected onto the people themselves with the eyes of thought. He comprehendedand in-depth explained of the ritual’s essence, connotation and value, based inritual. This article is from the ritual’s metaphysical meaning. Ritual is for moralcode, and ritual is also for daily behavior standards and political system. You cansee, Xunzi discussed the ethical significance of "the ritual" so further, that he triedhis best to provide a feasible to human nature of the prescription of salvation forthe chaos to social unrest by his thought of ritual. Xunzi thought it seems that manwill not breathe without ritual. Human society ideal political model is Confucian. Ritual had high value for all of the individual and social and political."The ritual"of Xunzi owned rich content and the clear goal. How can we realize in reality? InXunzi’s opinion, we can realize it mainly from an individual morality and socialmoral enlightenment two aspects. Xunzi had discussed moral cultivation target,scope, content and way for individual. At the same time he associated with theritual and social moral culture. From this, he discussed the ritual in order to raiseaffection. In addition, ritual and music should be combined.Today we research Xunzi at “the ethical” significance, which can help us toconstruct Chinese characteristics of socialist spiritual civilization. In this way wecan improve the social moral level and social atmosphere. It also can carryforward the national spirit, and promote the modernization. There is importantsignificance for all.
