Academic procrastination phenomenon is very common, which hinders students’good behavior habit developing. In recent years it has become a hot issue that researchers focus on, but most academic procrastination of empirical researches mainly aim at college students and pay too little attention to students in middle school. Perfectionism, as a personality trait, also attracts people’s attention. Not necessarily negative, positive or negative perfectionism, all has a direct impact on people’s behavior to be performed determinedly or be delayed and avoided. Perfectionism is also bound to have an impact on the academic delay. So exploring how to alleviate the academic procrastination from the perspective of perfectionism is a new train of thought.This study uses the academic procrastination scale, active procrastination scale, self-efficacy scale and Chinese Frost FMPs to conduct a questionnaire survey among766junior high school students from3schools in the two areas of Xiangtan and Zhuzhou in Hunan province. The main purpose is to discuss the following problems:(1) middle school students’perfectionism, academic self-efficacy and academic procrastination characteristics;(2) the characteristics of middle school students’perfectionism, academic self-efficacy, and academic procrastination;(3)the intermediary role of academic self-efficacy between perfectionism and academic delayThe results show that:(1) The delay degree of junior middle school students is not serious. The different academic task types and academic procrastination scores of Junior high school students are significantly lower than those of College students. During the delay persons, the number of passive delay persons accounts for the vast majority, and active delay ratio is very low, only1.6%of the total number.(2) In the frequency of academic procrastination, the task of learning plan among junior high school students is delayed most seriously, and the number of students who often or always delay reached15.7%.(3) The differences between academic procrastination in gender and grade are significant. The degree of male’s academic procrastination is significantly higher than female’s, But boys and girls in academic procrastination types have no significant difference.academic procrastination degree from the first grade to the third grade rises gradually, and academic procrastination of seven grade is the lowest.(4) Middle school students’perfectionism is moderate perfectionism. Junior high school students’positive perfectionism shows significant difference in sex. The scores of girls in the positive perfectionism are significantly higher than boys’, which reflects that girls tend to be more positive perfectionism than boys.(5) Junior middle school students’study behavior self-efficacy has significant differences in terms of gender and grades. In gender, male students’learning behavior self-efficacy is significantly lower than female students’; in grades, it decreases gradually from grade seven to grade nine.(6)The two dimensions:positive perfectionism and academic self-efficacy have significant positive correlation; negative perfectionism and learning behavior self-efficacy have significant negative correlation. And the positive perfectionism has positive value on two dimensions of academic self-efficacy, and negative perfectionism has significant negative predictive value on two dimensions of academic self-efficacy.(7) Between middle school students’academic procrastination and self efficacy, learning behavior and learning self-efficacy have significant negative correlation; study ability self-efficacy and learning behavior self-efficacy have significant negative predictive value on academic procrastination.(8) Persons who delay and ones who don’t delay in positive perfectionism, learning self-efficacy, learning behavior self-efficacy show significant differences.(9) Positive perfectionism and academic procrastination show significantly negative correlation; negative perfectionism and academic procrastination show significantly negative correlation. According to further regression analysis, positive perfectionism has significant negative predictive value on academic procrastination, negative perfectionism has positive role on academic procrastination. Intermediary analysis shows, academic self-efficacy take a mediator role between perfectionism and academic procrastination.Education suggestion:(1) attached to the junior high school students’ academic procrastination, for different groups to give different concerns;(2) establish the junior middle school students’self-confidence and improve the junior high school students’self-efficacy;(3) guide the correct view of perfectionism perfectionism information and give it proper guidance;(4) from the academic self-efficacy mediating role model angle to reduce academic procrastination.
