This is a translation project report on The Handbook of Outsourcing by Mark JPower, Kevin C Desouza and Carlo Bonifazi. The source text is Business-valueassessment and Operational assessment in Chapter3Strategic assessment. The sourcetext explains what is Business-value assessment and Operational assessment in detailand examines whether outsourcing is a strategy the organization should pursue interms of the above two assessments. The main contents of this report are divided intofour parts: Part One is the translation project description, including projectbackground, objectives and significance. Part Two is the background of the sourcetext, including the author introduction, main contents of the source text, linguisticfeatures of the source text, and evaluation and review of the source text. Part Three isabout translation difficulties and methods. The difficulties mainly lie in how toconvey the exact information of the source language and how to convey the completeinformation with concise words. The methods include Transformational-generativegrammar,literal translation and free translation, sentence splitting and functionalshift. Part Four concludes with the lessons, implication and unsolved problems in thetranslation project. This translation project report aims to help readers have ageneral idea about outsourcing as well as put forth a new perspective for thetranslation of such text.
