ObjectiveTo investigate the status quo and training demands of nursingstaffs in nursing home in Liaoning Province. Explore a series ofmeasures to improve their present situation and enhance theirspecialized skill.MethodsThis research adopted literature review, questionnaire and datastatistics to investigate. The methods of sampling were clustersampling and sampling with probability proportionate to size. Firstly,researchers used cluster sampling to divide the Liaoning province into14cities,6cities to be taken at random from those14cities. Secondly,every city was sampling with35%of its nursing homes to size. Finally,researchers conducted the study in a sample of2,004nursing stafffrom chosen nursing home of the6cities. The research tool was aquestionnaire which designed by ourselves including: demographicdata, present training situation and training demands. The degree ofthe staff have mastered the technical knowledge. The total points ofknowledge assessmenis35including seven dimensionalities. Everydimensionality is made of5entries, and each entry is1point. UsingSPSS17.0to analyse the measurement data, it included descriptivestatistical analysis, T-test, variance analysis and correlation analysis.ResultsThe proportion of female took up a majority among2004nurses. They average age was40years old, and their education levels mainlywere junior middle school or below. The nursing staff who was mainlymade of nursing assistant or contract worker was generally paid from1000to2000.The rate of qualification certificate was low. A half of thestaff were trained. The training context based on life care and medicalnursing and mainly carried out by nursing home. There was still18.11%worker complaining of the effect of the training. The averagepoints of the knowledge assessment was18.15±4.07. The highestpoint of dimensionality was life care and the lowest was lawknowledge. In demographic factors, gender and age had no impact onpoint(P>0.05). Different dates of service had significant impact onpoints of medical nursing, mental care, rehabilitation education andlaw knowledgeand the tota(l P<0.01). Different title of a technical posthad significant impact on points of medical nursing, mental care, lifecare, rehabilitation education and the tota(l P<0.001). It had impact onpoints of safe education and first aid knowledge(P<0.05). Differenthiring labour had significant impact on points of medical nursing,mental care, life care, rehabilitation education, safe education, lawknowledge and the total(P<0.01). It had impact on points of first aidknowledge(P<0.05). Different educational level had significant impacton points of medical nursing, mental care and the total(P<0.01). Ithad impact on points of rehabilitation education and law knowledge(P<0.05). Different wage had significant impact on points of medicalnursing, safe knowledge and the total(P<0.01). It had impact onpoints of life care, rehabilitation education and law knowledge(P<0.05). The dates of service, title of a technical post, hiring labour,educational level and wage had a closely correlation with the totalpoint(P<0.01). The most closely dimension with total point was hiringlabour(r=0.753). ConclusionsThe nursing staff of nursing home of Liaoning Province featuredwith low educational level, an advanced age, low wage, mainly female,contract worker and instability. The staff were wilful to accept training.They excepted the training time arrange in phases or stages accordingto training context. They accepted training mode of separated groupsaccording to the dates of service or title of a technical post. Thedegree of the staff mastered the technical knowledge was low andinfluenced by the dates of service, wage, title of a technical post,hiring labour and educational level.
