| This thesis made a systematic and detailed study on the constructional characteristics of minority nationalities in western Hunan Province. Constructions of the minority groups there is well worthy studying, for they are the works of art that embody the attitude of local people towards life as well as the features of the locality, the western Hunan Province, which remains a mystery or a barbarian land to the outside world. Based on data analysis and field survey, this thesis focused on a multi-levelled analysis of architectural forms so as to represent the internal relations between constructional rules and norms, between the architectural forms and some affecting factors, such as people, material surrending and social-cultural factors. |
