With the rapid development of socio-economic, demand for natural resources in mountainous areas has rapidly increased, at the same time, requirements for transport capacity and traffic volume of railway in mountainous areas has continuously improved. On the other hand, the rhythm of people’s work and life has speeded up, with the growing time concept, shorten the travel time in transit becomes common desire, high-speed railway has increasingly attractive to people. In2000, our country has put forward a strategy named West China Development,"Regional develops, Railway go first", high-speed railway will become the development trend of mountainous railway in China. The distribution and location of high-speed station in mountainous areas are closely related to the development of national economy and the improvement of living standards of those people who live along the railway. Currently, there are few theory and analysis methods about high-speed railway station in mountainous areas basis for distribution and site selection. This paper systematically studies the methods of distribution and location of high-speed station in mountainous areas, it also includes the characteristics of site location. This study includes:(1) Related concepts of high-speed stations are introduced, the general characteristics of the development of domestic and international stations and the general methods of distribution and location of stations are summarized.(2) The reasonable range of distance between stations is got by calculating them under different constraints.(3) To overcome elevation obstacle is a key problem of mountainous high-speed railways, considering the characteristics of ground undulations in mountainous areas, correction of ordinary differential method is made by joining elevation factors outside the plane factors, and a3D model for site selection is built.(4) The characteristics of site selection of the mountainous high-speed rail stations are summarized:On the basis of analyzing the mechanism of three common mountain geological disasters, which contains debris flows, landslides and collapse and rockfall, the problems should pay attention to as well as the corresponding control measures during the process of setting up stations in these areas are summarized; According to the differences of nature, scale, etc. of different stations, the idea that stations with different sizes should set apart in the selection process is presented; Learning from the successful experience of the Qinghai-Tibet railway, this paper puts forward an idea that setting up amount of unattended stations in mountainous areas, and makes a simple evaluation of its setting conditions and adaptability.(5) A comprehensive evaluation model of high-speed railway station distribution scheme in mountainous areas is established by Matrix method, the feasibility of the method is verified by the specific example of a high-speed railway from XiAn to Jiang You.
