Online analysis processing (OLAP) is a multi-dimensional data analysis techniques developed rapidly in recent years. OLAP enables analysts, managers and executives have access to information from multiple perspectives fast, consistently and interactively, so that deeper information can be found. The trend is moving to OLAP applications in the direction of WEB, the user want to use the browser to directly access the multi-dimensional OLAP cubes operation, therefore the study of the OLAP system based on pure B/S structure of thin-client gains particular attention. Most of professional multi-dimensional analysis softwares on the market are produced by the world's leading manufacturers, such as Microsoft, Oracle, etc., and their multi-dimensional analysis software bears the feature of full function and mature technology, but the purchase costs is high and maintenance costs is also raising. Commercial software is obviously beyond the reach of small and medium enterprises either from the funds or manpower. The paper's main work:Research and study on-line analytical processing (OLAP), to grasp the basic principles and implementation techniques to understand the dynamic dimensional analysis to guide the conduct of further work. The Mondrian open source ROLAP engine source code; understand Jpivot work process to control how it interacts with the Mondrian.Designed for small and medium enterprises multidimensional analysis model, including model framework, metadata, manage files and multi-dimensional analysis of the calculation layer, polymer layer, storage layer, presentation layer. The initial realization of multi-dimensional analysis for small and medium enterprises prototype system. In order to solve the problem of small and medium enterprises, this paper proposes a multi-dimensional analysis based on open source technology, establishes the multi-dimensional analysis model, initial implements the prototype system of multi-dimensional analysis, and tests the operating results. By using of a J2EE framework for the B/S mode operation, the system is easy to use, intuitive, readable, and can well meet the needs of practical applications.
