Contemporary Chinese Local Government Power Restriction Mechanism Studies

There is a proverb which goes like this "When prefectures and counties are well managed, the world will be at peace". As one of the most important parts of national institutions, local governments play a vital part in preserving political stability, promoting economic development and realizing people's interests. As far as real life concerned and due to the influences of various factors, the power control of local governments becomes the weak points of the whole power control system, because the existing problems of distant control of the higher authorities, the weak control of the peers and the hard control of subordinates. This paper takes the provisional local government's power (local administrative power) as its study subject, is guided by the political theory of Marxism and is based on the fundamental realties of our socialist country. It starts from the concrete practices of local governments, analyses the existing problems and reasons of power control system of local governments and probes into the approaches, measures, channels and ways of perfecting the power control system of local governments.
