| Spectacularity is an essential attribute for movie as an art. Visual spectacle is the most outward and visualized expression of the movie's spectacularity. "Visual Spectacle of Movie" refers to most attractive and thrilling imagines in movies that are selected or constructed by movie makers, are presented through various technical means and can be directly perceived by eyes. As the outward presentation of movies, spectacularity is displayed through an ultra-realistic and vivid imaginary entity and has an active effect and great significance to the artistic expression and people's appreciation of the beauty of movies. This thesis defines the "Visual Spectacle of Movie", introduces the development of it and probes into the aesthetic significance of it from digging out the origin of the word "spectacle", combined with the analysis of the nature of cinematographic art.The thesis consists of the "introduction" part and three chapters. The "introduction" presents the reason why the author chooses this topic, summarizes the current research status and clarifies the writing thought of the thesis.Chapter one gives a clear definition of the "Visual Spectacle of Movie" through elaborately analyzing the meaning of "spectacle"and its application in literature circles, as well as the nature of movie art. In addition, the thesis analyzes the historical development of the "Visual Spectacle of Movie". Finally, it concludes that visual spectacle can not exist isolatedly. The quality and the development of a movie art can be guaranteed only when visual spectacle coordinately develops with the other two aspects of movie's spectacularity, "story spectacle" and "theme spectacle".Chapter two expounds the aesthetic significance of the "Visual Spectacle of Movie". It starts with analyzing the ultra-reality and then it analyzes its functions in breaking the virtual boundary, regulating the action rhythm and making illusory lighting, through which it probes into how visual spectacle helps movies to go beyond the truth and reality, to present their artistic charm and reveal its function in each level of movie appreciation.Chapter three reveals the weakness in the development of visual spectacle of movie and its bad impact to the movie art, and also analyzes the cause of this phenomenon. In the era of visual culture and consumption culture, people's aesthetic modes are changed from viewing to recreating and from artwork to mass-spending commodity. The characteristic and expression form of visual spectacle of movie agrees with the aesthetic modes of the current people and it guarantees the high competition force of movies in cultural market. However, driven by commercial profit, people often misuse visual spectacle in these days, which certainly reduces the artistic effect of movies and leads to a malignant circulation for the development of visual spectacle of movie. The last part of the thesis puts forward two suggestions for the current movie industry and the development of the visual spectacle of movie, used as the ending of the thesis. |
