The urban waterfront space is a peculiar space located in the city, it's the transition space from city to the water.The urban waterfront landscape design is an act that build the water area as the center, and the planning of the surrounding city waterfront space, facilites and environment. At present, the city waterfront space is a very important resource of the city green zone developing movement, the waterfront space offers a relaxing and happy view and touch of the water environment, it contributes greatly in improving the urban environmental quality, enriching the region features and showing the unique feature of the city culture. Because the city water space is not as same as the wild water area, also rivers are different from the ocean, it only researches the planning and design of the waterfront space around the rivers and water areas inside the city in this paper. In recent years, with the development of our city economy, people keep asking more and more for better city environment, ecologization, humanity,diversification have turned to be new target of the waterfront landscape design. The increase of population, the acceleration of urbanization and the improvements of the people's living standard, all lead to the strengthening of people's awareness of environmental landscape, especially the waterfront landscape, the air pollution and the global climate change, water shortage and water pollution will be the most urgent environmental problem we will have to face in the 21th century. Developing the waterfront landscape design to be more natural and humanity and harmonious, have a very practical meaning to the sustainable development of human and water.It introduced the particular effects of the waterfront landscape in the city landscape in this paper, by analyzing the problems happened in the current plan of Changchun Yitong river environment. Due to the analysis, it brings the idea of solving the problem of the Yitong waterfront landscape by planning the zoology design, it also emphasizes that in order to realize the harmony and unity of the natural landscape and the artificial landscape, people should pay attention to the innovation of the technology, aesthetics and the idea, while protecting the environment. It sums up a new idea and method of waterfront landscape design in the paper, with the system analysis, research and deliberation to the real examples, all for making a positive effect to the future of the Yitong waterfront landscape environment quality.
