| The drive axle is one of the important carrying components. It supports and protects reduction carrier, and supports the weight for frame and other assemblies with other axles together. When truck runs, the traction, brake force, lateral force and vertical force are transmitted to suspension and frame through housing. Therefore the housing is botll carrying part and transmitting part.The article plans to establish the three—dimensional model by UG, to make all kinds of emulation analysis by MSC. Patran&Nastran. From the calculation results, the drive axle conforms to the strength requirements of national industry standards. It call be considered to be reliable under all running conditions. We estimated the fatigue life using finite element analysis software MSC Fatigue basing on the strength analysis. And the result proved that we use the exact finite—element model and change design data to optimize the drive axle, so the thickness and weight of drive axle can be reduced, the cost of axle can be made less than ever before.To verify the reliability of the result which calculated by FEA, we made model analysis and fatigue tests. The result calculated by FEA is similar to the test result. So the FEA result is perfect. Through above study, the use of finite-element technique can improve the design level and reduce the cost efficiently, and Can establish a set of valid development procedure for the future product development in enterprise. |
