With specially chemical structure, good performance, and high stability, 3-methylthiophene and chitosan have been extensively used in recent years. In this dissertation, 3-methylthiophene or chitosan combined with Pt nanostructure have been modified on the surface of glassy carbon electrode, These proposed electrodes have been characterized by field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM),transmission electron microscopy (TEM),electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS),cyclic voltammetry(CV) and chronoamperometry experiments.First, 3D Pt nanoclusters have been successfully electrodeposited on the surface of P3MT/GCE, and electrochemical experiments show that the modified electrode has excellent electrocatalytic activity towards the oxidation of methanol and nitrite.Second, a simple and sensitive electrochemical sensor for the detection nitrite and iodate has been fabricated by self-assembled nano-Pts which have inserted the surface of CS modified GCE. This methodology has relatively low detection limit, high sensitivity, and a wide linear ranges. Meanwhile, this proposed electrode can be uesd into the detection of real samples containing nitrite and iodate.Third, based on the similar experiment described above, a modified electrode has been fabricated by electrodeposition of Pt nanoparticles on the surface of CS modified GCE. Electrochemical experiments show that the modified electrod has excellent electrocatalytic activity towards the oxidation of methanol and reduction of oxygen. Thus, this modified electrode can be used in the fuel cells and high sensitivity of oxygen sensor.
