With the development of the industry, plastic products in electronics, machinery and everyday items are used more widely than before, which makes increasingly high requirements for the design and quality of injection molds. How to improve mold design quality and shorten product design cycle has been a major task for the plastic injection molding industry.Currently, the process of injection mold design is generally lack of standardization and intelligence. Only using General CAD software to design mold is difficult to improve the design efficiency substantially.Secondly, many injection molding design departments are short of intelligent parts library system. It may affect the long-term development of enterprises. Using a large number of artificial design models to design mold will inevitably increase workload, and easily lead to human error in design. Therefore, by analyzing the process of injection mold design and designers'operation styles, this paper designs and develops many computer-aided design function modules and the related algorithm, which include automated assembly, continuous assembly, parts editing function and so on. Based on Pro/E and Visual Studio development platform, and combined with a variety of Pro/E development tools such as Pro/Program, Family Table and UDF, an intelligent CAD system for injection molding parts is developed, which achieves a variety of intelligent functions, including standard parts and subassembly parametric modeling and customization, automatic fitting holes making and assembling.After extensive testing, the system has been used in production practices, it can effectively improve the efficiency of the injection mold design, shorten product development time.
