Artificial dielectrics are structures constituted by adding metal particles in dielectric, that already exist in nature, changing its electromagnetic properties, and then formed to meet the specific needs of a class of artificial medium. Substrate integrated artificial dielectric adds the metallic posts to change the effective dielectric permittivity of the original dielectric, this property has been used in previous miniaturization of microwave circuits.On this basis, we study a new type of local substrate integrated artificial dielectric, that is to add metallic vias and metallic pads.This structure after the periodic arrangement can form the stop-band within the certain range, which is able to adapt to high selectivity of microwave circuits, parasitic pass band requirements.First of all, the article describes the substrate integrated artificial dielectric structure evolution, a new type of local substrate integrated artificial dielectric (Novel L-SIAD) structure and its equivalent circuit extraction.Secondly, this chapter will give the characteristic analysis to the single cycle and multiple cycles of the novel local substrate integrated artificial dielectric (Novel L-SIAD) structure through a large number of software simulation and data analysis.Thirdly, the novel local substrate integrated artificial dielectric (Novel L-SIAD) structure can be used in microwave circuit design, Novel L-SIAD structure low-pass filter and Novel L-SIAD structure diplexer, respectively was optimized. With the Designer software, they were simulated and optimized, and datas were analyzed. Of them, the design for Novel L-SIAD structure of low-pass filter is a combination of Kaiser (Kaiser) window function theory and a novel local substrate integrated artificial dielectric (Novel L-SIAD) structure. This low-pass filter has a better roll-off factor, and can be well used to suppress parasitic pass-band.Finally, this chapter will give the characteristic analysis to the slotted pad local substrate integrated artificial dielectric (slotted pad L-SIAD) structure through a large number of software simulation and data analysis.
