Source Principle Applied Research In The Archival Appraisal

As one of the most important theories in archives science, the Principle of Provenance has being developed not only in its theoretical connotations but also being broaden in its application ranges,which is used in the field of archives arrangement, archives collection, archives classification, archives retrieval and especially in archives appraisal. After look over the the Principle of Provenance's developed process, we surprisedly discover that each of its theoretical leap is firmly connected with the archives appraisal's development and become a rule in archives science. And as an extensive application of the Principle of Provenance, Provenance appraisal has manifested that the document's former and its functions had a great influence on the archives value. Moreover, Provenance appraisal is also can consummate people's understanding of the Principle of Provenance and the archives appraisal in different periods. In addition, the Provenance appraisal's characteristics also give itself many practical superiorities and advantages, which enables itself to be widely used in the file appraisal work in different courses. Therefore, the Provenance appraisal has also become an appraisal method which is positively studied and advocated by many countries in the world. Compared with the foreign archivists, now we must continue to deepen our understanding of the Provenance appraisal even if this theory is familiar to us. So in this article, the author believes that we should carry out the Provenance appraisal as a turning point to archives appraisal work of China .And in this process,we should continue to absorb its characteristics and superiorities, use it to solve the problems in electrical archives appraisal work at present, realize the allround development of our archives appraisal work, promote the status of archives appraisal work and enhance honorary sense of the Chinese archivists. The more important is, we can obtain a new viewpoint to realize the development of classical theories in archives through the research on the Principle of Provenance applicatied in archives appraisal. That is we should dare to develop the classical theories and hold on its core principle at the same time. To sum up, only using a comprehensive and developing viewpoint to realize classical theories in archives can we put them into practice and move them forward at any time.
