Using the virtual internet communication platform of BBS for women as the topic, this paper investigates the impact of internet on women's development space. The BBS is a form of interacting public communication. The BBS for women is the one in the specific websites designed for women, in the female channel or female topic in general websites. According to Habemas's Public Sphere Theory, the BBS is a public space in the internet. With the characters of both mass communication and personal communication, the BBS has expanded the private space of the human being. Then, what is the impact of female BBS on women's development space? In this paper, the author will discuss this topic based on her own observation and reasoning.The female BBS relies on the advanced electronic technology and popular internet medium, however, it is still controlled by the people, the women who live in the real life. Therefore, it is easy to identify women's current situation and future desire from their discussed topics. It is also easy to tell the level of their interest from the response time, hit rate, and the number of the response. We have to admit that the scope of female BBS is relative narrow and it mainly focus on topics such as emotion. Almost nobody care about the social environment and politics. What the female internet users care most is the private life within their own visible and touchable range and something closely linked with their own interest.In acceptance of traditional topics, topics in the female BBS have broken through the male's topics and can be expressed freely without any constraint. Ironically, what is discarded by the female internet users is the traditional female image portrayed by the public media. They developed their own development space while they ignore guidance of public media. Within these female BBS topics, women have self-examined their own social status. Take the sexual desire as an example, we can see that women's attitude is changing from "him" and "his pleasure" to "me" and "my pleasure", from passive role to active role. The anonymity of internet has impacted on the two aspects. One is the promotion of privacy and another one is the observation and thinking from other point of view. Women exchange their views and opinions via the female BBS, the virtual communication platform for women. Their initial psychological self-defense mechanism is formed naturally during the turbulence.Due on the unique characters of the BBS, the development of the female BBS cannot be directed by the traditional media in term of time, location, and space as well as the follow-ups. The female BBS has increased the women's social time and scope as well as depth, expanded their social network. The communication through the female BBS has also updated women's value perspective and it is a new form of communication ideology in practice.After all, the female BBS is a virtual communicating platform and it can never replace women's sociality in the real world. Furthermore, the professional women should utilize their time wisely, participate in female activities with passion in the real life and obtain actively the information from the traditional media. Even on the internal, they should not confine themselves with the female BBS only since the female BBS also has negative impact even though it is of so many positive aspects. Due to the anonymity, the comments cannot be monitored and therefore, it is hard to determine their reliability. The wrong comments, on purpose or not, will generate negative impact on women.In practice, by investigating the comments and discussion, one can easily identify the female internet users' desires and their common concerns. Therefore, it gives the internet providers new idea to improve the service for the massive female internet users via the internal, the virtual social platform.
