With the development of network, middleware has become one of the key techniques in distributed computing implementation. Traditional distributed real-time systems must custom-tailor subtly for operation on special platform. Although these custom-tailored systems provide necessary qualification for real-time application, they created an unskillful architecture with some drawback include not easily modification, update and integrated with the third part components. Middleware is a common service system with standard program interface and protocol, which located between hardware, operating system and application. Middleware can support data share and application interoperability in heterogeneous hardware and operating system. Mainstream distributed application systems are middleware based systems presently, but common middleware lack of real-time capacity.Real-time middleware offers a common soft bus framework eliminated distributed real-time systems unhandy architecture. So, middleware integrated with real-time system becomes an important developmental direction. Research at real-time middleware concept and architecture has some shortage at present .In this thesis, real-time middleware has been studied in the round.First, this thesis introduces concept, characteristic, architecture, scheduling of real-time systems and real-time infrastructure, and concept, classify of middleware, real-time application request to middleware, real-time middleware research faced problem at present, design principle of real-time middleware, and architecture of real-time middleware.Secondly, this thesis introduces CORBA, concept of real-time CORBA, real-time CORBA specification, real-time CORBA architecture, priorities propagated of real-time CORBA, real-time CORBA resource manage, synchronization and research of real-time CORBA scheduling service.Finally, this thesis discusses implementation of real-time middleware. They are real-time CORBA request demultiplexing, real-time thread pools, real-time ORB and design of network connection.
