This paper researches backlash nonlinear characteristics generally existing in digital AC servo systems. Firstly, the present methods of eliminating the influences of backlash nonlinear characteristics are introduced. Then use the system identification to get the mathematic model of the AC servo motor. Aim to eliminate the influences of backlash nonlinear characteristics, A second generation adaptive PID controller based on single neuron is given. The result of simulation and the debug of actual digital servo system shows that the controller can effectively get rid of the sustained oscillation of the system caused by the backlash characteristics, and can improve the system accuracy. By adding an extra compensation component into control signal, the effect of backlash nonlinear characteristic on the system sine response is decreased. Applying on the actual digital AC servo system, the sine response shows that the inverse error is decreased.
