With the booming development of We Media in China, public discourse,newly emerged and less-known, has had an increasing influence onpeople’s social life. Changing from “onlooking” to “participating”, thegeneral public has got unprecedented discourse space from the Internet, aswell as ever-increasing “social volume” with the Internet as its carrier. Thus,most people think the best period for developing public discourse rights iscoming. Then, under this circumstance, it is quite significant to have asober mind and study on the public discourse rights in the Internet field.Adopting the method of “process-event analysis”, this paper attempts tounderstand and explain the emerging and evolving process of pubicdiscourse rights on the Internet by analyzing events with dynamicperspective, instead of on the subject of discourse rights. With reference toBourdieu’s relevant theories on public discourse rights and field, the papercarries on the study by adopting the Internet platform in We Media Era, thespecial field as the carrier of public discourse rights. Through thoroughanalysis, the following conclusions have been made:1. Mainly constitute by the general public, the subject of publicdiscourse rights in the Internet field is diversified, whereas its object exemplifies the feature of popularization and a strong sensibility. Thecarrier of rights in public discourse is decentralized and instantaneous.2. A combination of “Elite effect” and “general will”, together with thefact that the truthiness of an event depends on the attention of the publicdetermines the survival of rights in public discourse. This paper employs amodel of “Soccerene” to explain, in a vivid way, how public discourserights operates and generates influence and controlling force in the Internetfield.3. This paper also provides a detailed analysis on three concepts thatborn with public discourse rights, namely “discourse hegemony”,“symbolic violence” and “aphasia”.
