Today, the network size of many companies is constantly expanding, and the network structure is becoming increasingly complex. Once some network problems appear, considerable time may be wast on looking for them if there is no efficient and reasonable measures to manage the network. The cost of network maintenance increases too. Network management technology has become a key technology to accelerate the development of network. There are a lot of equipment monitoring softwares, but their features are single and require the client and server software are installed.Firstly, this article introduces SNMP and its management model briefly. Secondly, it analyzes the architecture features of B/S system and differences between C/S system, and introduces the three-tier architecture of WEB. Thirdly, it analyzes the existing device monitoring system. With the WEB technology, it designs a new system that does not need to install anything on user's computer. This system uses SNMP to achieve real-time access to traffic, gets flow data from server and renders flow chart dynamically by SERVERLET+APPLET technology. When the equipment fails, it alarm through a variety of ways such as web and SMS moderm. Combining with mapping technology, it makes the maintenance staff can view the location of the euipments easily. The system integrates a topology software into its web page in the form of APPLET. With this feature, people may draw topology online.
