The teaching and learning of art in junior middle school is aimed to cultivate the creative spirit and practical ability of the students. The method of cooperative learning is adopted in the period to encourage students to cooperate with each other and support each other, so as to enhance the efficiency of individual study and to attain the goal of the group.In this article by theory integrating with practice, the application of cooperative method is analyzed systematically and researched deeply in the teaching of advertisement, caricature and sculpture. The practice of cooperative learning method is aimed to combine the study of technical ability with the study of subject content. It helps to develop personality for common goal, and to promote mutual understanding. The scientific spirit, creative spirit and correct world outlook of the students will be shaped step by step in the course of cooperation. True cooperation means common progress in the course of learning from each other and appreciating from each other. This is the essence and the highest state of cooperation.In the teaching and learning of art in junior middle school, the use of cooperative learning can train and improve effectively students' creative power, stimulate their initiative in study, develop their group spirit, and consciously create the atmosphere of democracy and harmony. At the same time, this method helps students shape habit of anticipation, cultivate patience and perseverance in study, enhance the ability of dealing with adversity and difficulty, and the ability of bearing the defeat and setback.The cooperation of students in every link of art study is not only a kind of interflow and mutual supplement but also exploration and promotion. These raise art study from the level of study of simple skills to that of study of art culture.
