However, the sovereignty of the islands have a dispute on theownership, in the 1972 normalization of Sino-Japanese relations and the 1978 signing ofthe Sino-Japanese Treaty of Peace and Friendship, The Chinese government have proceedfrom the overall situation of "shelving disputes and jointly developing resources"proposal. Since entering the 21st century, Sino-Japanese maritime rights issues anddisputes continue, the first is long-unresolved issue of the Diaoyu Islands, and the disputeis the core issue of sovereignty over the Diaoyu Islands and interests of the division whichassociated marine rights. And this dispute between the Sino-Japanese relations willcontinue for quite a long time, which is also one of the most sensitive and thorny issue ofthe world. On the delimitation of the East China Sea, China and Japan have huge disputes too.China advocates the East China Sea continental shelf to China's land territory is a naturalextension, and extends to the Okinawa Trough, China and Japan is not a total continentalshelf. Japan holds that Japan and China have the same continental shelf, OkinawaTrough is just a coincidence accidental depression, not a termination of the extendedcontinental shelf signs. Japan holds "median line" principle of the continental shelfdemarcation of the East China Sea.April 22, 2004, the Sino-Japanese delegates also held a new consultative meeting inBeijing. At this meeting, the main problem area is the nature and the rights issue ofOkinotori Island. In regard to Sino-Japanese maritime rights and interests, there are so many disputes,Why?
