It is the period of transition of last century that modernism becomes the main artistic form in the Occident and feminism movement forms into the first wave at the same time. The support from feminism to the radical connotation of a great social change draws unprecedented attention of modernistic creation in history to sex. As representative author and authoress and masters on stream-of-consciousness fiction of the modernistic literature in the 20th century, the choice in ideas and in innovation in forms for fictions and the creation to female figures, etc. of Joyce and Woolf all embody the contradictoriness and the complexity of their female views. Simultaneously, their female views conversely influence their literature productions to a certain extent.This thesis intends to study points of the contradictoriness and the complexity of Joyce and Woolf's female views against the background of the period of the modernistic literature and the first wave of the feminism movement by exploiting the cause of formation of their female views and contrasting and comparing in category female figures in their fictions.
