Loyalty Problems Of Social Transition

Constituted of the traditional ethics faithfulness and honesty, modern loyaltycategory has its specific content and essential stipulation, making it clear that as an ethical consciousness, loyalty is based on the consciousness of class membership, responsibility and citizenship and includes stable emotional attitudes and behaviours emerging from the subject of morality rationally selecting the object. Loyalty is the basic ethical norms between individuals and individuals, and also the basic ethical standards between individuals and societies.The morality of faithfulness and honesty, developed from the traditional Chinese sense of loyalty, was formed during the Spring and Autumn Period of China and experienced three phases of development, resulting in its striking national characteristics such as worldliness,supremacy and obedience and so forth. In the modern society which is transforming from the traditional one , the morality of faithfulness and honesty has its objective reality condition. It is the collective reflection of the moral principles concerning the relationship between man and ethic, the concept of value, the social structure and the fundamental social system. It also plays an important role in those aspects. Meanwhile, during the transforming period of our society, the morality of faithfulness and honesty faces severe challenges, which is displayed by the confusion about who to be loyal to, what to be valued, and how to be loyal.To transform the morality of faithfulness and honesty from the traditional one into a modern one, we must internalize the external moral standards, enhance the rational support for loyalty, consolidate the emotional basis of loyalty, and improve its mechanism to recreate the morality of faithfulness and honesty.
