All-fiber Q-switching laser as its advantages of narrow pulse, high energy, simple structure and low environmental impact was used in optical communication, industry, medical science and military. In this thesis, active and passive Q-switching fiber laser was studied theoretically and experimentally.Passive Q-switching fiber laser now generally is based on SBS or on gain fiber as saturable absorber. Passive Q-fiber laser based on gain fiber as saturable absorber was studied experimentally. When the pump power was 99.8mW, the pulses with the pulse width 6.5us, repetition rate 55kHz, pulse average power 17.82mW were obtained.Mach - Zehnder interferometer modulated by piezoelectric ceramic was used as active Q-switching device. A piezoelectric ceramic driver was designed. With the modulation square wave signal of frequency 10kHz, duty cycle 1:1, 20V peak voltage, stable pulses output of pulse width 7us were obtained. With 168.1mW pump power, the output average power was 19.03mW. The slope efficiency was 11.97%. We analyzed the problems in the experiment and got the way to sovle them.Based on the physical mechanisms and theoretical models of erbium ytterbium co-doped double-clad fiber amplifier, the amplification prosess was stimulated. Using the Q-switching fiber laser based on Mach - Zehnder interferometer as a source , the signal was amplified by the erbium ytterbium co-doped double-clad fiber amplifier . The experimental results were agreed with the simulation results.
