| Externally bonding Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) sheets is a new procedure of structural retrofitting. It is necessary to study the change of performance (such as flexural capacity) of members repaired by CFRP due to its high strength. This paper investigates 15 R.C. beams under different conditions of CFRP amount, anchor condition and load history. The experiment results show that the flexural strength ,stiffness and cracking behavior of RC beams can be improved.A failure mode caused by epoxy-concrete interface bond abating is observed and analyzed in this paper . The analysis results show that the high strength of CFRP can't be fully utilized and limit of ultimate strain of material with lower strength is suggested for structural retrofitting.A FORTRAN program based on conjugate beam is worked out to analyze repaired beams, and the outcome correlates well with experiment data. Also, the design ultimate strain of CFRP is discussed and a simple design method is brought forward on the basis of experiment results. In the addenda, the crafts of bonding CFRP are presented in order that engineers can easily put this procedure into practice and ensure the effect. |
