| Malodorous gas containing mercaptans is harmful to people's body andcauses scurvy impact to the ambience. ACF-O3 adsorption oxidation process wasput forward based on the study of the treatments of malodorous gas containingmercaptans home and abroad. The text exoatiated on the hazards andconventional treatment methods of mercaptans, analysed the nature andfunction principles of ACF and O3, discussed the advangtages and feasibility ofcthanethiol's treatment by ACF-O3 adsorption oxidation process, selected out theappropriate type of ACF, and ultimately determined the appropriate process ofethanethiol emission treatment.This paper mainly used dynamic experimental means. Comparition of ACFof different materials on the ethanethiol adsorption effect showed: PAN-basedactivated carbon fiber (PAN-ACF) had the the best treatment effect onethanethiol. Ethanethiol can not be detected in the exhaust of 1000ppm followingethanethiol emissions after PAN-ACF adsorption treatment. The adsorptionefficiency was above 99.8ï¼…, and the absorption capacity was 0.1g/g. Research ofimpact factors of PAN-ACF adsorption ethanethiol showed: flux had little effecton the adsorption capacity. When flux changed between 160ml/min and3600ml/min, adsorption capacity was floating around 0.1g. Concentration hadlittle effect on the adsorption capacity. When concentrations changed between1324.56mg/m3 and 4534.87mg/m3, adsorption capacity remained at about 0.1 g.Bigger ethanethiol inlet flow or concertration would lead to shorter penetrationtime, shorter saturated time and more steep breakthrough curve. Heatednitrogen could commendably regenerate staturated PAN-ACF: Initialregeneration rate was 84.41ï¼…, and the rate stabled at 78.65ï¼…after four timesregeneration; Regeneration rate enhanced as time increased, however, itbasically remained stable after 120 minutes. Regenerated mechanism was also discussed by double effect combine mechanism.O3 and ethanethiol's adsorptionand oxidation on PAN-ACF at the same time would greatly reduce ethanethiol'streatment time, and O3 oxidation treatment on the saturated PAN-ACF couldhardly regenerate PAN-ACF. The reasons were: O3 and ethanethiol hadcompetitive adsorption on ACF surface; ethanethiol was oxidized to sulfur,condensed sulfide, or other substance that would be strongly adsorbed on theACF surface; ozone damaged the minuteness porous and change types andquantities of functional group on the surface of ACF. Study of oxidation ofethanethiol by O3 showed: Oxidation reaction basically completed within 8s.Temperature carried a little impact on ethanethiol's removeal efficiency.Oxidation product varied with different ozone dosage, and it could be one orseveral substance in sulfur, sulfur dioxide, condensed sulphides, or othersubstances. Ethanethiol removal efficiency could reach 100ï¼…when ozone wassufficient."ACF adsorption-N2 thermal regeneration- O3 oxidation" process was bringforwarad to deal with ethanethiol emissions, considering the experimental resultsof ACF-O3 adsorption oxidation progress under different conditions.
