The credit cards are experiencing fast growth in China, as of end of June 2007, a total of 1.095 million credit cards has been issued by larger banks in Shanghai, 80.1% increase compared to beginning of the year and 127.7% increase compared to June last year . Increasing competitive pressures require you to develop new and innovative ways to satisfy the increasing demands your customers make. How to discover the characteristics of your customers and transform the information into "knowledge" in order to provide high-quality personalized service for cardholder is a hot issue for both international and domestic banks.BI (Business Intelligence) is a massive data analysis framework developed in the the past 10 years and based on data warehouse technology. This technology is creating a picture of what is happening relies on the collection, storage,processing and continuous analysis of large amounts of data( historical credit card data of the bank and external information) to provide the information that the bank need. With the muti-demension analysis and data mining tools, the bank can extract valuable knowledge to help bank regulators in-depth understand of customers' need, current business situation and make reasonable prediction, business plans and win greater competitive advantage.The BI solution of Credit card analysis allows bank to improve their decision-making at all levels by giving bank a consistent, valid, and in-depth view of the credit card business by consolidating data from different systems into a single accessible source of information—a data warehouse. This solution provide all-round, multi-level support decision to help bank executive make better strategic business decisions against market trend in a short time to dig key customers, improve service quality and reduce operating costs for banks favorable market competitive advantage.On the basis of credit card business requirements, build data warehouse in terms of the star model, store the DW data in the RDBMS, multi-dimensional analysis the credit card business with the OLAP technology and use of data mining techniques to classify the credit card users.The last part discussion focused on the use of decision tree induction credit card data mining, giving the visual description for the mining results, formation some decision rules. And the rules can apply to control the credit risk of the bank, also provide a scientific basis for bank executive decision-making .
