As a new kind mattress fabric, weft mattress fabric is emerging in home textile industrybecause of its softness, rich patterns and good elasticity.It becomes more and more popular.Inthe purchase of home textile products, people no longer just focus on the cost and appearanceof fabric, but pay more attention on comfort, safety, health and other function. And thetraditional weft mattress fabric with polyester fiber can not effectively absorb the substancessecreted from human body in the process of contact. It not only cause the damage offabric,but also make a discount on comfort and affect the quality of the sleep. Therefore, themattress fabric with antimicrobial and anti mite function is becoming more and more popular.Combining with production practice, antimicrobial weft mattress fabrics are developed,mainly from the equipment, materials, pattern, knitting the4aspects to complete thedevelopment: With Fujian Hongji MARK type double computer jacquard knitting machine,167dtex coffee–charcoal PET yarn (antimicrobial yarn), polyester drawn textured yarn,polyester spun yarn the3materials are choosed as plate yarn, and cooperated with theconnection rate2.22%,6.25%,8.64%,11.0%,13.89%diamond type soleplates as well as theconnection rate11.0%twill, scatter type soleplates,a total of7soleplates for weft mattressfabric knitting. After washing and setting treatment,21samples are obtained.7samples withcoffee–charcoal PET yarn are antimicrobial weft mattress fabrics, and the rest are contrastsamples. At the same time, the main technological parameters and key technology inproduction are discussesed.The problems in the development process are analyzed and solvedwith corresponding solution.In this paper, antimicrobial weft mattress fabrics are researched on properties, includingbreaking elongation, burst, tear, crease recovery,pilling, heat preservation, liquid watertransmission, moisture permeability and antimicrobial, a total of9properties. With regressionanalysis on the test result, it is determined that material, soleplate type and connection rate3factors have significant effects on the samples’ properties. Results show that on the physicaland mechanical properties, the trends of antimicrobial weft mattress fabrics and the sampleswith polyester drawn textured yarn are familiar, and generally better than the samples withpolyester spun yarn. On the heat-moisture comfort properties, liquid water transmission ofantimicrobial samples is particularly outstanding.Heat preservation and moisture permeabilityof antimicrobial samples are familiar with the contrast samples. On the antimicrobialproperties, weft mattress fabrics really with antimicrobial yarn have good antimicrobialproperties which increased with the increase of coffee–charcoal PET yarn content.When thecontent is over10%,it meet the standard of antimicrobial rate70%. When the content is72%,the antimicrobial rate is99.5%, then it has no obvious improvement even ifantimicrobial yarn content increased. And for the development of7new antimicrobial weftmattress fabrics, in the future it is allowed to reduce coffee–charcoal PET yarn content in theprocess of production for both antimicrobial effect and fabric.Finally, all samples are evaluated with two models for the comprehensive evaluation ofperformance. The higher the comprehensive value indicates the comprehensive performance of the sample is better so that it’s easier to obtain the best product development plan. Resultsshow that: the comprehensive value of samples with coffee–charcoal PET yarn are generallyhigher than the other samples, and the sample of C soleplate with connection rate8.64%isbest. And under the same connection rate, the diamond soleplate is more suitable for thedevelopment of antimicrobial weft mattress fabric than twill, scatter soleplate.With the trend of the development of functional home textile, in this paper theantimicrobial weft mattress fabrics are developed and analyzed its performance with scientificmethods.It has certain guidance and reference significance for the future research of this kindfabric.
