In recent years, the amorphous material as a new material has gradually enteredpeople’s life. The amorphous material are beloved by people, due to its excellent physicaland chemical performances in which one very important feature is its good corrosionresistance. Every year in China, corrosion led to a huge loss, so looking for materials withexcellent corrosion resistance is an important mission. Al based amorphous alloys havegood corrosion resistance, but because it appeared late, the research with it were relativelyless, the research of Al based amorphous alloys with rare earth and transition elementswere much less.The material of studied in this paper are Al based amorphous alloys with RE-TM(Al-RE-TM) whose nominal composition is Al88Ce8TM4(TM=Cu, Ni, Co, Fe, Mn, Cr, Ti).The amorphous alloy strips obtained by rapid solidification is2~4mm wide and about300μm thick. The micro-structure of the alloys were examined by XRD and TEM for provingthe structure of the7kinds of alloys. Then the open circuit, AC impedance,potentiodynamic polarization curve of alloys were tested in0.6M NaCl solution whose pHis3,5and10.The results of experiments show that: the map of the7kinds of alloys all have a broadscattering peak by X-ray diffraction analysis which indicated the7kinds of alloys wereamorphous alloys. Transmission electron microscopy examination also proved the result.The corrosion result of amorphous alloys in0.6M NaCl solution whose pH were3,5,10asfollows: through comprehensive comparison of the corrosion potential, the corrosionelectric current, the pitting potential, polarization resistance, and the charge transferresistance, I found the effects of transition elements to amorphous alloys that the corrosionresistance of the7kinds alloys in3kinds of0.6M NaCl solution. In the solution of pH is3the order of enhancing corrosion resistance from strong to weak in turn is Cu, Ti, Mn, Cr,Ni, Fe, Co. In the solution of pH is5the order of enhancing corrosion resistance fromstrong to weak in turn is Cr, Ti, Ni, Co, Fe, Cu, Mn. In the solution of pH is10the order of enhancing corrosion resistance from strong to weak in turn is Mn, Fe, Cr, Co, Ti, Cr, Mn.Then after comparing the corrosion resistance of every alloy in3kinds of solution wefound that the Al88Ce8TM4(TM=Cu, Ni, Co, Cr, Ti) alloys have good corrosion resistancein the solution of pH is5, the Al88Ce8TM4(TM=Fe, Mn) alloys have good corrosionresistance in the solution of pH is10.
