With pressure-volume technique the water parameters including osmotic potential at water saturation point(Ψssat), osmotic potential at zero turgor point(Ψstlp), realtive water content (RWCtlp) and osmotic potential water content(ROWCtlp) and maximum cell elastic modulus (εmax) of 16 kinds of plants were studied. Such as Salix psammophila C.Wang et Ch.Y.Yang, Salix cheilophila Schneid, Periploca sepium Bunge in Mem.Acad., Elaeagnus angustifolia L. and Berberis vernae Schneid. and so on.And with Mini-PAM determination of ETR, Yield and NPQ of 6 kinds of plants in, including Salix psammophila C. Wang et Ch. Y. Yang, Elaeagnus angustifolia L., Amorpha fruticosa L. and so on. The drought resistance of the tested plants was compared with the water parameters and chlorophyll fluorescence parameters. The results showed as follow:(1) Four water physiological parameters in comparison with different drought tolerance mechanism of plant drought tolerance, Ψssat and Ψstlp fit in endurance dehydration, εmax and ROWCtlp suiTablele to delay dehydration(2) According to the water parameters of PV and the natural distribution characteristics, the drought resistance of 16 kinds of the plants could be divided into three levels:strong, medium and weak drought resistance. The strong drought resistance plants including: Zygophyllum xanthoxylon (Bunge) Maxim, Periploca sepium Bunge in Mem.Acad., Berberis vernae Schneid., Caragana microphylla Lam. Encycl. Bot., Caragana korshinskii kom., and Artemisia ordosiea Krasch. The medium drought resistance were Caryopteris mongholica Bunge, Ampelopsis aconitifolia Bunge, Atraphaxis bracteata A. Los., Salix microstachya var. Bordensis (Nakai) C. F. Fang, Elaeagnus angustifolia L., and Artemisia sphaerocephala Krasch..The weak were Salix psammophila C. Wang et Ch. Y. Yang, Salix gordejevii Y. L. Chang et Skv., Salix cheilophila Schneid, and Hedysarum mongolicum Turcz..(3) In the 11%~26%(V/V) soil moisture condition, the chlorophyll fluorescence parameters of the 6 plants showed similar trends. With the decrease of soil water content, Yield, ETR and Fv/Fm values decreased, and the NPQ value increased.
