LD pumped solid state Q-switched lasers have become a focus in the field of lasers due to their advantages of high efficiency, long lifetime, high stability, high power and good quality of light beam, and etc. They are widely used in many fields, such as optoelectronics industry, medical treatment, military, scientific research, and etc. In order to obtain laser pulse with short duration, high efficiency, high peak power, high stability, this paper was made experimental researches around LD pumped AO Q-switched red, green, and ultraviolet lasers. The main contents can be summarized as follows:1. The development of LD pumped solid state lasers are simple reviewed, and some properties of nonlinear crystals such as LBO, KTP, CLBO and BBO were introduction. The theory of AO Q-switched, the theory of nonlinear frequency doubling and the principle of nonlinear phase matching were analyzed.2. Experiment study the properties of LD diode pumped Q-switched Nd: GdVO4 crystals 1342nm laser. Under the incident pump power of 9.2W, the maximum output power at 1342nm was obtained to be 1.6W, with the repetition frequency of 10 kHz and coupled transmission of output mirror 15%, the pulse width was measured to be 35ns.3. By using the KTP or LBO as the intracvity frequency doubler, a compact and efficient diode-end-pumped AO Q-switched Nd: GdVO4 red laser was demonstrated. Such as using the LBO crystal, under the incident pump power of 9.2 W, the maximum average output power at 671 nm was obtained to be 1.36 W at repetition frequency of 15 kHz, with the corresponding optical-optical conversion efficiency of 14.8%. At the same incident pump power, the shortest pulse width at 671 nm was obtained to be 28 ns at the repetition frequency of 5 kHz, and the average output power of 0.93 W. The single pulse energy and peak power are calculated to be 186μJ and 6.65 kW, respectively.4. Simple analyzing the Nd: GdVO4/KTP 532nm green laser. By simple extra-cavity frequency conversion, the performance of a diode single-end-pumped AO Q-switched Nd: GdVO4/KTP/BBO 266 nm laser was demonstrated. Under the incident pump power of 14.32 W, the maximum average output power at 266 nm was 374 mW at the repetition of 20 kHz; the optical-optical conversion efficiency was 2.6%. The corresponding pulse width was 5 ns, with the single-pulse energy and peak power calculated to be 18.7μJ and 3.74 kW, respectively.
