Optical Code Division Multiple Access (OCDMA) is an advanced multiple access communication technology for incorporating the advantages of code division multiple access technology and optical fiber communication method. Since its competitive technological advantage and bright market prospect, OCDMA technology has become one of the potential candidates for future all optical high transmission network. In recent years, the research about OCDMA technology focus on the system performance improvement, theory of optical address code, optical encode/decode technologies and OCDM code application. In this paper, it has been studied seriously on two aspects, the performance improvement by using Forward Error Correcting in OCDMA system and the application of using Optical Code Division Multiple code in optical label switching technology. This dissertation is organized as follows.The history and development of OCDMA technology is reviewed and summarized at first, and then the basic OCDMA principle, OCDMA network configuration and system category, key technologies are introduced.Based on the analysis of basic principle of OCDMA system, a scheme of using FEC technology to improve system performance is proposed, and an influence of adopting RS(255,239)code into coherence OCDMA system and incoherence OCDMA system has been researched, respectively. The research result shows that the system performance enhances greatly both in the one/two-dimension incoherence OCDMA system and Differential Phase Shift Keying (DPSK) coherent OCDMA system.In term of OCDM label code research, a novel optical label network scheme based on OCDM code has been proposed, which combines OCDM technology with optical label switching (OLS). Comparing to traditional step-by-step OCDM label routing way, a new OCDM optical label based on hierarchical routing method has been proposed in this paper. In this scheme, Optical label is designed as time stack structure, which contains many levels. And different optical label stands for different routing district, which is judged from big to small. While the same level district is judged by routing matrix principle. What's more, according to this novel routing scheme, an optical core router has also been designed, which is harmony with WDM network and constitutive of a serial sub-core routers that provide routing information for each wavelength. Using the character of OCDM code, each sub-core router can judge, control and route the corresponding wavelength data packet smoothly. Simulation result shows that, without considering contention mechanism, data packet can be successfully switched under the proposed new OCDM label switching scheme.
