ABSTRACT:Because ultrashort pulses with picosecond, femtosecond magnitude of the pulse width, high pulse repetition rate, wide spectrum and high peak power, in various fields has been widely used, so ultra-short pulse generation has become important today a research topic. Among the ultra-short pulse generator technology, the semiconductor saturable absorber mirror mode-locking technique because of its unique advantages as a research focus in recent years. This paper is based on Nd:YVO4 crystal as gain medium, SESAM as a mode-locking device, based on theoretical and experimental study of high-power picosecond SESAM mode-locked laser, and achieved some results.In this paper, the characteristics of high-power lasers, the thermal effect in LD end-pumped laser crystal has been simulated by FEM(finite element) analysis software, and its thermal focal length is calculated,analysis of the pattern matching, the design of the W-type folded cavity thermal stability and stable area through the resonator cavity spot calculation and simulation, effective optimization of the thermal stability of cavity. In this experiment, LD end-pumped Nd:YVO4 crystal has been stable 1064nm continuous mode-locked operation, we achieve 12.86W high average power at 35W pump power, CW mode-locked pulse repetition frequency of 78.65MHz, optical-optical conversion efficiency of 36.6%.
